Dynamo Gymnastics Bulletin: Spring Session Update (Covid-19)
In light of the recent developments regarding the COVID-19 virus this week, including the closure of all publicly-funded schools for two weeks following March Break, we have understandably received queries about the status of our Spring Session programs at Dynamo.
At this time, the Ontario Gymnastics governing body has advised member clubs to continue running programs as scheduled. Given this direction, Dynamo will be offering our Spring Session as planned, starting March 22.
As we know this is a sensitive issue during a time of unknown, Dynamo is offering two-class credit to families already booked in our Spring Session who prefer not to attend gymnastics classes during the school closure. This credit only applies to classes offering during the two-week school closure period.
We want to assure you the health and well-being of our students, families, staff and the community is paramount for us. While the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has assessed the public health risk as low, we recognize the situation is always changing and we are guided by the research and response of the local health and municipal authorities.
At Dynamo, we have already implemented additional measures of prevention, including:
• increasing the frequency of sanitization of all commonly used areas and surfaces around the gym.
• asking participants, staff and visitors to wash their hands immediately upon arrival, during programming, before and after eating, and again upon exiting our club.
(In anticipation of increasing sanitization practices, Dynamo had already stocked up on cleaners, soap and hand sanitizing gel.)
Waterloo Region Public Health offers many everyday actions on how to protect yourself and prevent spread of germs and viruses like COVID-19:
- Wash your hands often with warm water and soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- Avoid contact with people who are sick
- Stay home when you are sick
- Sneeze and cough into your sleeve
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
Dynamo also asks those who have travelled out of the country during March Break not to attend the first two weeks of classes to minimize health risks.
For more information on symptoms and how to protect yourself, visit Region of Waterloo Public Health.
Dynamo will base further actions on recommendations of health authorities and will communicate any changes to programming as quickly as possible.
We know this is an uncertain time for everyone and ask for your patience as we navigate this uncharted territory together.
Sincerely,
Your Dynamo Gymnastics Team
